Quite a nice set from Fly - I quite like his style - however I find it is quite similar to the style of other turntablists from France. Fly shows he has a nice consistent set of skills, but unfortunately not enough to take him through to win the world championships. It did get him a respectable 3rd place though.
‘Prepare for a Turntablism revolution’. Well I think it is happening - we are moving away from the styles of old and into the new. A nice little example of the newer type of style thats out there. Quite a solid set overall, but it kind of lost my interest after the 4 minute mark. I believe this set earned M-Rode third place at the 2007 French DMC’s.
This is an interesting video of D-Styles and Ricci Rucker experimenting by recording the different sounds objects can make to be used as scratch samples for the Bastard Language Tour.
I love D-Styles hes always got some insanely different cuts, and Ricci Rucker always has the goods too. A nice combination. You’ll see later in this video that Mike Boo makes an appearance and they get into some next shit. Reminiscent of the styles Ricci Rucker & Mike Boo’s collaboration Sketchbook, its this style of turntablism that really inspires me.
A nice little cutting session featuring the alternate styles of D-Styles, Ricci Rucker, Toadstyle, Mike Boo and Excess. These guys all have sick cuts but decidedly different styles and I really like them all!
