DMC French 2007 Champion - DJ Fly
Quite a nice set from Fly - I quite like his style - however I find it is quite similar to the style of other turntablists from France. Fly shows he has a nice consistent set of skills, but unfortunately not enough to take him through to win the world championships. It did get him a respectable 3rd place though.
DJ Rafik 2007 World DMC Champion
A new DMC World Champion has been crowned at Indig02 on the 7th of October 2007. Congratulations to DJ Rafik of Germany who proved the most skillful turntablist of the night. Not to say there wasn’t some tough competition from DJ Fly, Yasa and Australia’s own Perplex.
Check out the video of Rafik’s the winning routine below.
An interesting piece of trivia is that Rafik apparently teamed up with producer Le Jad to prepare / produce his set (just as Netik did for his 2006 winning DMC set). Seems like Le Jad is the man to be working with these days.
The official results were as follows:
1st - Rafik (Germany)
2nd - Yasa (Japan)
3rd - Fly (France)
Congratulations to all contestants involved.
2007 World DMC Team Champions
Following the Battle for World Supremacy the World DMC team Championships took place on Saturday the 6th October 2007.
Once again, the competition was tight but the deserving winner came forth in the form of KIREEK from Japan. KIREEK put on a stellar performance displaying the skills that pay the bills - their drum and bass style got the crowd moving and the judges voting…
Congratulations to KIREEK who are now $10,000 (US) richer and have their hands on a nice little package of goodies as well as the acclaimed World DMC Team Championship title. Well done guys.
2007 DMC Battle for World Supremacy
Last night brought us the annual DMC Battle for World Supremacy and World Team Championships at Indig02.
The competition was tight, yet the early rounds got off to a shaky start. The competition started to heat up towards the quarter finals and the entrants from Singapore, Japan, USA, Spain and France were all looking strong and in contention for the title.
The final saw a heads up between USA entrant DJ Shiftee and France’s hopeful DJ Or d’Oeuvre. It was a close battle and shards of scratches were flying everywhere but DJ Shiftee came out the winner and $10,000 (US) richer.
Congratulations to DJ Shiftee for taking the title and much respect to all the other turntablists who (in most cases) put up a good fight (honorable mentions to Spain & Japan).
